It’s that time of the year again! Get ready for the 6th Annual 24-Hour Reparations Telethon on Giving Tuesday, 7am CT December 3rd – 7am CT December 4th, 2024, sponsored by the Uhuru Solidarity Movement!
Let’s make Giving Tuesday a day of reparations to the African community! You can contribute to the Reparations Telethon’s goal to raise a minimum of $35,000 towards the programs of the Black Power Blueprint by going to blackpowerblueprint.org/donate.
The Black Power Blueprint is a unique and visionary initiative, led by the African working class. We are building our own collective capacity for self-determination. African People’s Education and Defense Fund President Ona Zené Yeshitela has stated, “APEDF’s mission and mantra is to defend the human and civil rights of the African community and we believe African people have the right to self-determination!”
Every contribution goes directly towards the building of dynamic, anti-colonial institutions in north St. Louis such as the Uhuru Bakery & Cafe, the African Independence Workforce Program and the Community Affordable Housing Program. Each of these programs are actively creating community-based solutions to transform the conditions of food apartheid, mass incarceration, and homelessness imposed on the African community.
The Reparations Telethon is a fun, exciting and deeply moving 24-hour experience showcasing the voices of African community leaders and organizers throughout the world. Jam-packed with culture, interviews, community testimonials, and reports from the front-lines of the anti-colonial struggle, the Telethon is a tribute to the movement of African people for freedom and self-determination.

Uhuru Bakery & Cafe
The Uhuru Bakery & Cafe will be a local hub for the community to meet, organize, and enjoy nutritious baked goods and entrées as well as provide employment, skills training and volunteer opportunities.
The City of St Louis is blocking the Uhuru Cafe from opening using bureaucratic red tape, lies, slander and the amplified voice of one hostile white woman. The city has blatantly disregarded the black community’s voice which is backed by hundreds of signatures and letters of support for this much needed institution. This fight continues!
African Independence Workforce Program
The mission of the African Independence Workforce Program is to reverse the negative economic and social impact of the colonial economy and prison system. We’re determined to shape the future of our youth directly with housing, job training, life services and economic development as a way of self-determination.
Community Affordable Housing Program
The Black Power Blueprint is renovating and restoring several houses to provide affordable housing for the African community and combat homelessness and gentrification on the northside of St. Louis.

- African infants in St. Louis are 3.3 times more likely to die than white infants. This is equivalent to losing 8 kindergarten classes per year.
- The mortality rate of African newborns is cut in half when cared fo by African health practitioners, including doulas and midwives.
- African women in Missouri are four times more likely to die in child birth compared to white women!
