Black Power Blueprint purchased and demolished two city-owned condemned buildings, then secured architectural and landscape plans to create a beautiful multi-purpose outdoor event space with native plants and trees. A two story mural showing Mr. Gary Brooks and the black community controlling our own culture and food economy by planting, growing and harvesting food from the garden is now completed!

The One Africa! One Nation! Marketplace fosters community commerce and economic opportunities. The Gary Brooks Community Garden is collaborating with other black growers to provide fresh vegetables and to hold gardening and cooking classes.
Project work completed:
- Purchased and demolished 2 condemned buildings on 4 lots
- Installed 50’ flagpole with 25’ African flag
- Secured architectural and landscape design plans
- Awarded Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) rainscaping grant for permeable pavers
- Awarded Brightside St. Louis grant for native plants and trees
- Installed winding concrete pathways
- Installed lighting, wrought iron and wood fencing, storage shed
- Built covered stage – ADA accessible
- Planted native plants, trees and vegetable garden boxes
